Lee Curtis
presents Dave from Zoes Place with a cheque on behalf of
Merseycats
On 30th March, 2007 Kay Shepard and John Clucas
represented Merseycats when they handed over a cheque for
£2,000 to Zoe's Place, on behalf of Merseycats. Kay
reports.
"I have just got
back from Zoe’s Place, John picked me up and we went together.
A beautiful two and a half year old little girl called Jamie
Lee (left) with a tube in her throat showed us
round. She took us into her bedroom; it had about 6 cots in
there. God love her, we couldn’t really understand what she was
saying because the child had a traciostomy in, but when we did,
she was pointing out a cot for me to sleep in and one for John
to sleep in.

Such a strong
little girl, her strength for such a little lady makes one feel
so humble.
We were shown
around the bereavement suite. Penny, the fund raising manager
showed us the room they use for a mortuary, with a
refridgerated cot for babies to be laid out in when they have
passed away.
So beautifully
decorated, it makes one ashamed of the trivial things we
complain about in our everyday
life.

raised around £800
What a night. The
place was rockin' all night long. These fundraisers at
the Gild Hall are growing in popularity year on year and
at each event there is always a waiting list for
tickets.
Thanks to all the
bands, Steven and Niall for the sound, Val on raffle,
Paul for being our M.C. (conducted in his own inimitable
style!!) and all the supporters who came along on the
night to make it a GREAT success. Final figure raised is
not known yet but will be in excess of
£800.
Thank you all once
again

Bergen meets
Merseycats
Friday 8th June 2008, Flanagan’s,
Mathew Street
Yet another jam night success
for Merseycats, this night was arranged off the cuff so to
speak with help from David Bedford, Mike Rice and Nancy from
Flanagan’s and myself.
Merseycats members and
supporters created a great night of P.R. that welcomed our new
found friends from Norway called ‘Bergen Beat’. Tempest and
guests provided the music and entertainment for over 100 bergen
beaters. Frieda Norris managed to persuade Earl Preston to get
up and perform. He brought most of the crowd from Norway to
stage front to applaud and take photographs and video, Dave,
Beryl, Bob, Paul, Bernie, Ian and George reminding all that
Merseybeat is as always still very much
alive.
Last but not least
a £200
donation from Geir
Keys and Bergen Beat to Merseycats fund was greatly received,
as was the assurance of closer ties and possible trips to
Norway.
Many thanks to all musos who
put their own equipment in, a special thanks to Bob Gerhaty for
starting work an hour earlier on his shift to provide his drums
for the night.
