BEAT IS BACK AT THE O.P.B.

The ticket stated  “BEAT IS BACK AT THE O.P.B.” (Orrell Park Ballroom) and without any doubt it was.

Merseycat regulars The Clayton Squares got the night going in style with songs by Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, The Beatles and many more all done in their own unique style.

Next onstage were Searchin`, (left) these lads have only been together for 18 months but have worked hard and with their choice of classic Merseybeat favourites and some lesser known

Songs, which they have made their own they had the crowd shouting for more.

40 years after they first appeared at the O.P.B. The Undertakers were back.

Original member Geoff Nugent (right) led his band through a fantastic set which demonstrated why he is a Merseybeat Legend.

Last on the bill The Shakers. These lads must be one of the finest exponents of Merseybeat Music. Their sound is as close to the real thing will ever hear unless you are old enough to remember Liverpool in the 60`s.

The crowds wanted more so they got more in the form of Tempest a band featuring Merseycat members. This was a chance for all the people who had worked so hard to put on the show to have a bit of fun. A great way to end a great night.

Merseycats would like to thank everyone who came to the O.P.B. for their support and their generosity we raised £1,040 on the night and donated £2,000 each to two local children’s charities. Special thanks to Merseycats Treasurer Kay Shepard who organised the show from start to finish. Thanks also to Compere Paul Bohan. We hope to see you all again in the future.  Will Mountain
